- Senior Software Engineer (backend)
About us
We're an early-stage, post-seed startup building the software platform powering the next generation of telecommunications. Our engineering team is small and highly experienced, with engineers who have built and scaled mission-critical systems at companies including Adyen, Miro, and Microsoft.
The role
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll design, build and maintain the systems that power the platform. You'll work on problems around global connectivity, distributed systems, real-time provisioning, billing, and scaling a platform that serves users around the world.
You'll own projects from technical design through production, collaborating closely with the founders and the rest of the engineering team. You'll have significant influence over our architecture, engineering practices, and the way we build software.
How we work
We are obsessed with developer experience (think fast local setup, automated testing, reliable CI/CD, and frictionless deployments).
Pragmatic technical discussions. The best idea wins, regardless of who proposes it.
Few meetings, minimal process.
We value thoughtful engineering over chasing the latest trends.
What you'll do
Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs in TypeScript
Develop scalable systems on GCP.
Design data models and optimize queries in PostgreSQL.
Write well-tested, maintainable code.
Review code and help maintain a high engineering bar.
Improve our engineering tooling, and CI/CD.
Deploy to production regularly (multiple times per day) and take ownership of what you build.
Contribute to architectural decisions as we scale the platform.
What we're looking for
4+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
Experience building and operating production software at scale.
Strong experience with a statically typed language such as TypeScript, Go, Java, or Kotlin.
Solid understanding of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
Experience working with (private) cloud infrastructure (GCP is a plus).
Strong engineering fundamentals, with an emphasis on testing, clean architecture, and maintainable code.
Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving environment with few predefined processes.
Nice to have
Experience with serverless architectures or cloud functions.
Experience mentoring junior engineers (interns)
Experience improving CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling.
Experience designing distributed systems or event-driven architectures.
Experience in telecom, networking, or infrastructure products.
What we offer
A small team of experienced engineers who care deeply about building great software.
Meaningful influence on both product and technical direction.
Minimal bureaucracy, we optimize for shipping, not meetings, OKRs, sprint ceremonies, etc.
The opportunity to help shape a platform from an early stage.
Competitive compensation and meaningful equity.
How to apply
No CV or AI-generated motivation letter needed. We'd much rather see your GitHub profile or hear about a couple of substantial software projects you've built and the role you played.
