Hey Telecom Review 2026: Price, Network, eSIM and Support

A clipboard holds a sketch paper with "hey!" written in orange. A pencil rests beside it. Text overlay reads "Local Belgian eSIM."

Choose hey! (Hey Telecom) if you want a low priced mobile plan on the Orange Belgium network and you are happy to do everything online. hey! is the digital brand of Orange Belgium: you order on the website, your plan has no fixed term and you can cancel it at any time, eSIM is available and support runs through chat and WhatsApp every day from 8:00 to 22:00. In March 2026, the consumer organisation Test Aankoop gave hey! its "Best of the test" labels for mobile and for mobile with internet. Check two things before you switch: hey! does not list a phone number for general customer service, and roaming outside the EU is charged per use. Firsty is a telecom company too, so this review sticks to what hey!, Orange Belgium and Test Aankoop publish, checked on 13 October 2026.

Who is behind Hey Telecom?

Orange Belgium is behind Hey Telecom. Orange launched hey! on 24 September 2021 as a second, fully digital brand aimed at people who want low prices and manage everything themselves. The main difference between Orange and hey! is the service model, not the network: Orange offers shops, a wide product range and family packs, while hey! sells only online and handles service through its customer zone, chat and community.

Which network does hey! use?

hey! uses the Orange Belgium network for 4G and 5G. Your coverage with hey! is therefore the same as with an Orange SIM card, and at launch Orange also confirmed support for VoLTE (calls over 4G) and Voice over WiFi. Want to check your signal at home or at work? Look at the Orange coverage map for your street before you order.

A few rules are useful to know before you sign up:

  • Switch plans for free once every 30 days in your My hey! customer zone.

  • Pause your plan for up to three months through the chat.

  • Unused data does not roll over to the next month.

  • Extra data in Belgium above your volume is charged per MB and blocked automatically once you reach 50 euros.

You can keep your number when you switch to hey!. Customers coming from Proximus, Telenet, BASE or VOO receive a new SIM card, and hey! arranges the cancellation with the old operator. Customers coming from Orange keep their current SIM card. Read how to keep your number when you change mobile providers for the general steps in Belgium.

Does Hey Telecom support eSIM?

Yes, hey! supports eSIM. You choose between an eSIM and a physical SIM card when you order, so check first whether your phone is compatible with eSIM. If you already have a hey! SIM card in an iPhone, you can convert it to an eSIM through quick transfer in your settings. New to the technology? Read what an eSIM is and how it works.

Hey Telecom customer service

hey! offers support through chat on its website and through WhatsApp, every day from 8:00 to 22:00. You can also ask questions in the hey! community forum, where customers and the hey! team answer, and through social media. The help page does not list a phone number for general customer service, so expect to handle most questions in writing.

Public reviews on sites such as Trustpilot and Test Aankoop are mixed, as with most Belgian operators. Many customers mention the price and the network as strong points, while the most frequent complaints concern reaching support for questions that fall outside the standard online processes. Read recent reviews yourself if personal contact matters to you.

Roaming with hey!

Inside the EU and the United Kingdom, use your hey! plan as you would in Belgium: you call, text and use data from your plan at home prices. Switzerland, Andorra and Monaco are not part of the EU, so they fall outside that rule. Outside the EU, usage is not blocked by default but charged at international rates per zone, which can add up quickly when you use mobile data. Check the rates for your destination before you travel, or block roaming outside the EU in your customer zone.

Is Hey Telecom a good choice for you?

hey! is a strong fit if you mainly use your gsm in Belgium and the EU, want a low monthly price on a large network and prefer to arrange things online. Look further if you travel outside the EU often, or if you want to call a helpdesk when something goes wrong.

Telecom that works for you

Most Belgian mobile plans still stop at the EU border, and travellers pay extra the moment they leave it. Firsty is building telecom that works for you, not against you: no SIM card to swap, no roaming setting to remember, no zone chart to check and no surprise bill. Every connection Firsty sells also connects someone in Belgium who needs it, not as charity, but because that is how the business works. Keep an eye on what Firsty is building, because things are moving, and discover more at Firsty.app.
