Why Is My Mobile Data Not Working or Slow?

Why Is My Mobile Data Slow or Not Working?

There are several reasons why your Firsty eSIM data might not be working or running slower than expected. Some of the most common causes include:

🔹 Weak network coverage – Your current location may have poor signal strength.
🔹 Network congestion – The network may be overloaded with too many users at the same time.
🔹 APN settings issue – Your phone may not be configured correctly for Firsty’s network.
🔹 Data roaming is off – Firsty eSIM requires Data Roaming to be enabled.
🔹 Incorrect network selection – Your phone may be connected to a weaker network.
🔹 Exceeded data limits – Your Firsty Fast plan may have run out of high-speed data.

The good news is that most of these issues can be fixed quickly by following the troubleshooting steps below.

How to Fix Slow or Non-Working Mobile Data

1. Check That Your Firsty Plan Is Active

If your Firsty eSIM was working previously but has stopped, first make sure your plan is active and supported in your current location.

How to check your plan

  1. Open the Firsty App.

  2. Check your plan status.

  3. Confirm that any purchased days have been activated.

  4. Make sure your current country is supported by your plan.

For Firsty Free, make sure both your current country and home country are supported. Each advertisement earns 20 MB of data, and you can watch up to 15 advertisements per day.

For Classic, Unlimited, Comfort+, or First Class, confirm that your current country is included in your plan. If you have used a large amount of data, your speed may be temporarily reduced under the plan’s fair usage policy.

2. Confirm That Your Firsty eSIM Is Installed and Enabled

Make sure your phone recognizes the Firsty eSIM and that it is turned on.

On iPhone

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap Cellular or Mobile Data.

  3. Under Cellular Plans or SIMs, locate your Firsty eSIM.

  4. Tap the Firsty eSIM.

  5. Make sure Turn On This Line is enabled.

  6. Return to the Cellular or Mobile Data menu.

  7. Tap Cellular Data or Mobile Data and select the Firsty eSIM.

The eSIM may be labeled Firsty, BICS, Proximus, or another similar network name.

If the Firsty eSIM is not listed, it may need to be reinstalled. Open the Firsty App, go to First Support, select I have deleted my eSIM, and follow the instructions.

3. Check Your Signal Strength

If you are in an area with low network coverage, your mobile data may be slow or not work at all.

How to check signal strength

  • Look at the signal bars on your phone.

  • Try moving to a different location, such as moving outdoors or closer to a window.

  • Check whether the connection improves in another area.

If the signal is weak, your phone may struggle to maintain a fast connection.

4. Enable Mobile Data and Data Roaming

Firsty relies on Data Roaming to connect to supported mobile networks. If it is turned off, your connection may not work properly.

On iPhone

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap Cellular or Mobile Data.

  3. Select your Firsty eSIM.

  4. Make sure Turn On This Line is enabled.

  5. Turn Data Roaming on.

On Android

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap Network & Internet or Connections.

  3. Select SIMs or SIM Manager.

  4. Select your Firsty eSIM.

  5. Turn Data Roaming on.

If Data Roaming is off, your Firsty eSIM will not function properly.

5. Toggle Airplane Mode On and Off

A quick way to reset your network connection is by using Airplane Mode.

  1. Open Settings on your phone.

  2. Turn Airplane Mode on.

  3. Wait 30 seconds.

  4. Turn Airplane Mode off.

  5. Wait for the phone to reconnect and check your mobile data.

This forces your phone to reconnect to an available network.

6. Check and Update Your APN Settings on iPhone

Firsty uses different network profiles. Depending on the profile installed on your phone, you may need to enter the APN settings manually.

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap Cellular or Mobile Data.

  3. Select your Firsty eSIM.

  4. Tap Mobile Data Network.

  5. Enter the settings that match your Firsty network profile.

Firsty Proximus or BICS profile

  • APN: bicsapn

  • Username: Leave blank

  • Password: Leave blank

Firsty Singtel profile

  • APN: e-ideas

  • Username: 65ideas

  • Password: 65ideas

Your changes should save automatically when you return to the previous screen.

After updating the APN:

  1. Restart your phone, or turn Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds.

  2. Turn Airplane Mode off.

  3. Check your mobile data connection again.

7. Manually Select a Different Network

If your Firsty eSIM supports multiple networks, you may need to switch to a stronger network in your area.

On iPhone

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap Cellular or Mobile Data.

  3. Select your Firsty eSIM.

  4. Tap Network Selection.

  5. Turn Automatic off.

  6. Wait for the list of available networks to appear.

  7. Select another available network.

On Android

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap Network & Internet or Connections.

  3. Select Mobile Network.

  4. Select your Firsty eSIM.

  5. Turn off automatic network selection.

  6. Choose another available network.

If one network is congested, switching to another may improve your connection or speed.

After manually selecting a network, your phone may not automatically connect when you travel to another country. Turn Automatic Network Selection back on once testing is complete.

8. Reset Network Settings

If you still experience slow or non-working data, resetting your network settings may fix the issue.

On iPhone

  1. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.

  2. Tap Reset.

  3. Select Reset Network Settings.

On Android

  1. Go to Settings > System > Reset Options.

  2. Select Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth.

This will reset saved Wi-Fi passwords, mobile network settings, and Bluetooth connections, but it will not delete your eSIM.

9. Check Your Firsty Plan and Data Balance

If you are using a limited-data Firsty plan, you may have used your available high-speed data.

How to check your data balance

  1. Open the Firsty App.

  2. Check your active plan, remaining data, and validity period.

  3. Activate any available days if required.

If your data has been used up, you can purchase additional data or another plan directly in the Firsty App.

  3. Start a support conversation.

When contacting Support, include:

  • Your phone model
