Cancel Scarlet Belgium: MyScarlet, Form, Costs and Modem

Illuminated storefront sign with a red hand logo and the word "scarlet" beneath. A banner below reads "GSM Abonnementen."

To cancel Scarlet, log in to MyScarlet, stay on the Products tab and click Cancel your subscription at the bottom of the page, or fill in Scarlet's online cancellation form without logging in. Switching internet or TV to another provider? Then don't cancel at all: give the new provider your Easy Switch ID and Scarlet stops the day after the new installation. Cancelling is free for a contract of indefinite duration, which is the standard at Scarlet, but you pay the remaining value of a discounted device and you must send back your modem and decoder. For your gsm number, don't cancel the line yourself if you want to keep it: the new operator moves the number and closes your Scarlet line.

How can I cancel my Scarlet subscription?

Scarlet names two ways to cancel: Easy Switch, when you move to another operator, and the cancellation form, through MyScarlet or on scarlet.be. These are all the channels:

Cancel Scarlet online via MyScarlet

  1. Log in to MyScarlet. You land directly on the Products tab.

  2. At the bottom of the page, click Cancel your subscription.

  3. Check the details in the cancellation form and press Send.

You receive a confirmation email, and Scarlet cancels your subscription within a few days. On the form without login, you need your customer number, which is at the top left of your invoice, and you choose a cancellation date for each service.

Cancel Scarlet by email or letter

Scarlet has no email address for cancellations: its contact page only offers a form. Its terms let you cancel a contract of indefinite duration at any time, in writing and without a reason, and the online form is that written channel. Prefer a letter? Scarlet is a trademark of Proximus, the contracting party named in the terms, so send it by registered post:

Proximus (Scarlet), Koning Albert II-laan 27, 1030 Brussels

Subject: cancellation of my Scarlet subscription

I hereby cancel my Scarlet subscription [internet, TV, gsm, landline or pack], customer number [number], in the name of [name], at [address], as of [date]. Please confirm the cancellation by email and send me the return instructions for my equipment.

What does it cost to cancel Scarlet?

Cancelling Scarlet costs nothing for a contract of indefinite duration. You only pay in these situations:

Situation

What you pay

Internet, TV, gsm or landline of indefinite duration

Nothing

Device bought at a discount with your subscription

The remaining value of the device

Contract with a fixed term, cancelled within six months

At most the subscription fees up to month six

Equipment not returned in time

A fixed compensation, and the device becomes yours

Scarlet notice period

There is no fixed notice period: Scarlet stops the service as quickly as possible or on the date you choose, and handles the online form within one week. With Easy Switch, your subscription stops the day after your new operator installs the new service.

Does the six month rule apply to you?

Only if you have an older or promotional contract with a fixed term. Belgian law (article 111/3 of the electronic communications act of 13 June 2005) lets an operator charge an early termination fee only in the first six months of a fixed term contract, and never more than the subscription fees up to month six. Scarlet's terms conclude contracts for an indefinite duration unless stated otherwise, so most customers can cancel at any time without that fee. Not sure which contract you have? Your contract and your invoice show whether it runs for a fixed or an indefinite term, and the Belgian telecom regulator BIPT explains the rules.

Cancelling a bundle (Trio or Duo)

Scarlet sells Duo (internet and gsm), Trio Mobile (internet, gsm and TV) and Trio (internet, landline and TV). The cancellation form asks separately for internet, TV, gsm and landline, so you can stop one service and keep the others. Moving house? Don't cancel: file a moving request at least five weeks in advance.

Where to find your Scarlet Easy Switch ID

Open the MyScarlet app, tap Products and scroll all the way down: your Easy Switch ID and customer number are listed there. On the MyScarlet website, open your Products and scroll down. On paper, they are on the first page of your invoice, or otherwise in the Easy Switch information section on the last page. Easy Switch works when you have at least an internet or TV service, and you should not also cancel yourself.

What to send back

Send back your modem and decoder, but leave the fiber modem in place, because it is part of the installation in the home. Print the return label Scarlet sends by email or post, or show the digital barcode under Follow up in MyScarlet. Put the device with its power cable in a cardboard box and drop it at a bpost point before the due date, at the latest one month after the end of the contract. If your email says a device has no value any more, you get no label and may keep it or take it to the recycling park.

Using a Scarlet email address? You can keep using it for free for up to 18 months after your internet subscription ends.

Switching? Keep your number

Keep your Scarlet gsm line active until your new operator has taken over your number. Ask the new operator to keep your number, and it moves the number and closes your Scarlet line. Cancel first and you lose the number. Keeping your number also keeps itsme working: a new SIM card or eSIM with the same number needs no reactivation, and only a new phone does, as our guide on moving itsme to a new phone explains.

Telecom that works for you

Leaving an operator should take one form, not a search for the right ID on the last page of an invoice. Firsty is building telecom that works for you, not against you: no SIM card to swap, no roaming setting to remember, no zone chart to check and no surprise bill. If you use your phone a lot on the go, the Firsty 100 GB plan for Belgium gives you 100 GB in Belgium and the EU, then 512 Kbps for the rest of the month instead of a cut off, plus 2 GB in 176 countries outside Europe and unlimited local calls and texts, with no contract. Firsty's Belgian plans launch soon, and the waiting list is already open. Every connection Firsty sells also connects someone in Belgium who needs it, not as charity, but as how the business works. Keep an eye on what Firsty is building, because things are moving, and discover more at Firsty.app.
